This book is awesome for the child or teen Each page teaches about the bird and there is s foldout chart showing the actual coloring of the birds.

So relaxing I like to draw my own picture sometimes but these bird pictures were so much fun to color I use mostly the Bic set of 36 pens to color these the Bic pens do bleed through so you will lose the picture on the reverse side so I chose my favorites to color. Also I will be able to use these drawing later to create some of my own drawing using these for reference and this helped me to learn how to blend my colors and strokes. I have included some photos for you to see. I put some of my finished drawing on my kitchen cupboard doors for some temporary decoration. The only downside is the colored pictures are so small that detail is not there, so you have to use your imagination, not really a down side:)

4.5 Stars.I have several Dover coloring books that I have purchased for myself and my small granddaughters. All that I own thus far have nice pictures, printed on decent quality paper. However, don't use markers unless you are willing to sacrifice the picture on the opposite side. That would be my only complaint. I usually use colored pencils so this is not a deal breaker for me. I do sometimes like to use markers but for the price Dover coloring books are way worth the inconvenience of only being able to use dry color.I like that this particular book has colored pictures of each page so that you can see what each bird looks like. I am also impressed that they give a short description of each bird.

My local Amish school teacher requested another "Bird Book" for her newest student as they use this book from grade to grade and when the student graduates, the book goes with them. They previously had zeroed copies of birds that went from generation to generation. Finally, last year they asked if there was such a book for sale. (the zeroed copies were harder and harder to make clean). I went to Amazon and found several different kinds of "bird books" and ordered one of each. Upon examination, they chose this book to use. I am grateful to be able to fulfill their needs through Amazon.

I gave each child in our Pre-K class one of these and a box of crayons at the end of the school year. They were delighted with them. Since we had spent time this spring looking at, and listening to bird calls of common birds in our area, they could easily recognize the birds .Besides reinforcing information about the birds, it will help them with hand eye coordination as they color in the pictures.A colored picture of each bird is on the inside covers.

My what a selection! They include pictures of what the birds look like in nature on the front and flip out back covers. No one else I have come across does this. The drawings are beautiful. I highly recommend this book. I would give it more stars if I could.

PAINTING CRITTERS AND BIRDS, ALL OF NATURE IS PURE ENJOYMENT. ALL THE DOVER BOOKS AND OTHERS I'VE ORDERED FROM AMAZON HAVE BEEN FANTASTIC TO USE TO CREATE WITH. I CAN'T SPEAK HIGHLY ENOUGH WITH MY SATISFACTION WITH THESE COLOR BOOKS FOR ARTISTS OR FOR AMAZON ITSELF. NOT SURE AS I AM SUPPOSED TO USE THE COMPANY NAME OR NOT, YET THEY TRULY ARE THE VERY BEST AND I LOVE HAVING PRIME AS WELL FOR I ORDER SO MUCH FROM AMAZON. LIKE AT LEAST 49 COLOR BOOKS, 4 KINDLE E-BOOKIS, ART SUPPLIES, ELECTRONICS, AND THE LIST GOES ON FOREVER. :D

Although I liked the subject matter and layout of this book, I have mixed feelings about the illustrations... Don't get me wrong though, they're beautifully drawn. It's just that some of them were almost too detailed and tiny (in some areas) to color with anything other than highly sharpened pencils or fine-tipped pens. Still, I think it will appeal to most bird lovers and coloring enthusiasts, and I enjoyed it for the most part, too.

I ordered these for my 9 year old daughter and she LOVES them! She is artistically minded and loves to color and draw, but I have not been able to find her coloring books the past few years that actually interest her. Her and her Mema and Papa bird watch so this was perfect for her! I like that they are detailed so that add a level of difficulty to them, plus the imagery is beautiful and she is already picking out the ones that she want to hang up in her room. GREAT purchase!

A former federal prosecutor, Paul Butler provides legal commentary for MSNBC and NPR and has been featured on 60 Minutes and profiled in the Washington Post. A law professor at Georgetown University, he is the author of Let’s Get Free: A Hip-Hop Theory of Justice, winner of the Harry Chapin Media Award, and Chokehold: Policing Black Men (both from The New Press). Paul Butler's "Chokehold: Policing Black Men" is a comprehensive study into the psychology of America's criminal justice (or injustice) system. In "Chokehold" Butler answers critical questions concerning the impact of the American criminal justice system on African American men. He provides well documented support for his conclusion that the system is designed to subjugate African Americans. Given the central role of race in the allocation of societal resources, Butler cogently argues that correcting this system is not merely a matter of clearing up misconceptions through dialogue or adopting modest reforms. Instead, he postulates that the American criminal justice structure must be restructured from the ground up. Butler effectively conveys the point that policing will not change significantly for African Americans until such comprehensive change happens. Until then, African Americans (especially African American men) will remain under a chokehold. I recommend this book.

This is an excellent book. It is essentially written for younger black males but is a useful read for anyone interested in racial/social justice IMO. Mr. Butler covers a number of issues around the criminal (in)justice system as it applies to black men but he also makes clear that black women are also victimized both from the color of their skin and their gender. In spite of being an old white male, I applaud Mr. Butler and other contemporary authors who continue to pull the cover back on the truly appalling situation we have in America regarding racial/social injustice. Given the politics of the day I fear it will get worse before it gets better. I encourage my fellow white people to read with an open mind and step up and speak out.

Chokehold is a great and necessary book to read even though the content is difficult. Anyone who doesn't understand why they kneel, whether appropriate or not, will understand after reading this well-written book. It made me angry, outraged, and very sad. It is a necessary book for anyone who cares about our failing criminal justice system

For the conditions in the urban areas, for anyone that has wondered WHY at this point the condition of black people in america remains mainly unchanged even after having Mr Obama in office. A devastating description of what it's like to be policed while black in the US. I couldn't help wondering whether some of the grander claims were overstated but then considered the evidence presented and found it difficult to dispute.
