I first found this book on a Midwestern library shelf a few years after it was published. Like the author I go was headed for Ghana to be part of some Christian work. Unlike her, I had never traveled abroad before at all. This book served as an excellent introduction to Ghana. I recently got it on Kindle, years after having spent a total of two and a half years there. It brings the country to life in all its complexity. A pleasure to read before or after a journey there.
The kind of book that puts you right there in the picture. Insightful and moving portrait of a corner of Africa.
