This text book covered many aspects from basic motor controls to the variable motor functions. In some of the chapters, the data was very confusing and left us students asking more questions than the book answered. I queried the professor and he himself said it was a difficult book. Another professor that was going to be teaching this course in the fall, said he would not use the book as it does not really cover the data needed for the students to get the best knowledge to use in the field. I felt that the book kept me more confused than informed.
If I could give this book more stars I would. I can't express how much this book has helped me in my career and progression in the industrial maintenance field. I got this book when I was a 2nd year apprentice because I couldn't get the answers and knowledge at work from my Journeyman. I read this book cover to cover on my breaks. I can't tell you how much this book improved my skill set, knowledge, and performance at work. I HIGHLY recommend this book to any new apprentice or even a master with 25 years under their belt. This book WILL make you a better electrician.
mr. mazur was a teacher of mine in college. we used this book in his class many years ago (first edition). i use this book today (fourth edition) to train fresh graduate engineers on basic motor controls in my company. we read a chapter per week and do the associated examples in the work book. this is an excellent book and well worth the money.
