This is a great version of the Bhagavad Gita. This book goes verse by verse, and after each one, there is a long analysis of that verse. I recommend getting a copy that is just the Bhagavad Gita without the commentary as well. It was much easy for me to digest this great spiritual work by reading the Bhagavad Gita without any commentary a few times, then going back and reading the commentary. Just my 2 cents. If you are looking for a great introduction to spirituality seen through the Eastern lens, pick up this book.

This is one of my favorite translations of the Gita of all time -- and at a very reasonable price. A.C. Bhaktivedanta gives a clear and concise commentary that illuminates the passages to the reader.The Gita is a spiritual gem. The world needs this.

This is a great edition of the Gita, and certainly the best edition of Bhagavad-gita As It Is. Unfortunately there are some typos in this edition which, in my opinion, prompted another edition of this book with many unnecessary changes. Despite its typos there is much undeniable spiritual power in this book that has changed lives and will continue to do so.

Lovely edition with full colour plates and ribbon markers suitable for private devotion as well as study.

I ordered two different books, both by the same authors hoping they were not repeats. They both have different ideas. This one has Holiday and seasonal. The beginning of the book is very fun to read about Bento tradition and how food should be proportioned to prepare a healthy bento. Also has a list of common foods used to make the creative ideas. Each picture/recipe is very descriptive on how to make it look exactly like it looks. Recipes also have some 'if Not this, then that' suggestions for when you might not have what you need. Lots of great do-able ideas for me and the 10 year old to make.

I got it for my friend and she loved it, I browsed before I gave it to her to see what accessories I could pair with the gift. Its a very well curated collection of cute lunches to make, good instructions and pleasant to look at. She has already made a few and sent me pictures (and given that we met studying medicine and not in culinary school its no joke that we both are terrible cooks!) they ended up looking super cute/apparently taste good! I'll get probably get a copy for myself soon!

Great ideas for my kiddo and easy to follow!

I chose this book because my elderly mother has dementia, and I was told she will probably need finger food as she progresses. Bento style food looks like fun and there are many options for perfectly sized finger foods. The book may be designed for children's lunch boxes, but it will also be fun for a couple of old ladies!The recipes feature a lot of rice and vegetables prepared in attractive ways that are almost too cute to eat. Almost all of the recipes include meat. I read reviews of their previous cookbook and noticed a lot of complaints about high usage of processed meats, such as hot dogs and spam. Most of the meat recipes in this new cookbook are made with fresh meat. There are about a dozen recipes that call for cocktail weenies, hot dogs, and sausage. For the most part, the recipes include natural meats. Even the colored rice is tinted with natural ingredients such as finely grated carrots or mashed purple potatoes.I was worried there would be hard to find ingredients in the recipes, but was happy to see that almost every ingredient listed is easily available at my local supermarket. The only ingredient I won't be able to find is quail eggs, which is a shame because they are featured in so many cute variations! Darling little lady bugs, flowers, and chicks.I ordered a variety of cutters, and Mom helped me make a few recipes. She had so much fun! We don't eat a lot of meat, but it was easy to make substitutions. For example, we made the mummies on page 92 and used sticks of leftover glazed tofu instead of cocktail sausages. We didn't put them in bento boxes, but we served them with broccoli florets and carrots which were easy to pick up.Practicing with Mom now has been a good experience for both of us. Learning how to make meals fun and easy to eat will be helpful later if or when the need arises.

This is a gem of a book. It is cheerful, creative and well laid out as a how-to. It makes you want to put more effort into your food. Such wonderful upbeat and charming bento ideas. I was bedazzled.My only warning is that the scale of many of these ideas relies upon access to quail eggs. I guess you could use a radish or a cheese ball but quail eggs are not readily available in my region. You could certainly fall in love with these creations and not be able to duplicate them. We checked with 3 grocery stores in the area and only one was a "maybe" about special ordering them. That shape is so important to so many of the recipes that it helps to be aware of item availability going in. Other than that, delightful book.

Disclosure: I received a copy from the publisher for review.The thing I love about this book, besides the super cute pictures, is that it's a great starting point for people interested in cute bento lunches AND a great seasonal/holiday activity book for those who want ideas for special occasions.Yum-Yum Bento All Year Round is versatile. It has instructions for specific bentos, yes, but it's also full of recipes you can use for any meal and tips and resources for general bento making. It's clear the authors have a passion for Japanese cooking and for cute bentos, and they know their audience in all its varieties. They include natural methods to create colored rice and a comprehensive list of links for bento supplies and recipes if you get really into it; and the structure of the book is such that people who want to make an occasional special lunch can easily find a holiday or seasonal topic but aren't drowned in endless options.The authors even took into account lazy bums like me. While some bentos require using the foods listed (like noodles for the baby birds' nest), the focal points of most are cute characters you can prep the night before and throw on top of whatever leftovers are in the fridge. For example, the other week I made a batch of rice and a freezer bag of broccoli, divided it between two takeout containers and added in some leftover chicken and shrimp.Nothing fancy, but add in a ham-and-cheese polar bear or mittens and ta-da! Winter-themed bento! However, if you're not artistic and/or patient, I recommend getting a few cookie cutters to speed the process along. The link list at the back of the book is a good starting place. :)Especially if you're new at this cute bento thing, as I am, the book provides some good guidelines. You're not bound by the bento recipes, but...well, let's just say some ingredients work better than others. I made an attempt at Yum-Yum's Rudolph bagel with some salami, Swiss cheese and regular tomatoes I had on hand. It turned out all right, but regular ham and American would have cut into shapes a lot easier, and potato antlers would be less floppy.In conclusion, this is a great book for seasoned bento veterans and beginners alike. It's not a 365-day commitment, just a seasonal/holiday treat to make you smile at the office or make your kids laugh at school. Or, even better, a group project to do with your family or friends!

I really enjoy JJ's writing style - she strikes the right balance between woo-woo concepts like projecting the right energy and very actionable and strategic steps to advance your career. The book has worksheets and some really through provoking material - it's something you can go back to time and time again. The chapters stand alone so you can pick up wherever you like. If you feel stuck in your career, this is a must read.

Something for everyone. Whether you are settled, searching or swimming upstream in a new job, JJ shares lots of realistic insights on how to invigorate and navigate your career. This book should be savored –I read it over a couple weekends, pen and “to-do” list in hand. You will find multi-layered breadcrumbs to additional sources, and if you don’t have time to track them all down, JJ shares the highlights on the page. What I loved best was her approach to the advice – we are not all in the same place or on the same path, so you will find multiple approaches to each suggestion. Such a lovely Marguerite Henry horse story for kids 6-10 or so! I read these 50 years ago in 25-cent book club paperbacks and am now buying these great hardcover copies for my 7-year-old granddaughter who is horse crazy. She has read Justin Morgan Has a Horse and is now on Misty. These are so terrific; all kids should read them. I have studied children's literature all my life, and M. Henry is tops in the horse fiction field after all these years. Even if the grandfather's speech may seem a little quaint to modern ears, the story is so worthwhile, and the way those kids love those horses is so real, and the horse behavior is so true, that you are transported as a reader into their world. A bonus is the little explanation in each book about the beginnings of the horse colony at Assateague Island, and the history of the pony penning days. Author Henry notes in each book, by the way, that all characters in the book are real, and she lists them on an inside page, thanking them all! One fly in the ointment is a dating issue (1949), and that is the discrepancy of the two juvenile characters, who are brother and sister. They act equally and are treated equally--except in the pony penning events, in which girls are not allowed to compete. I assume that is no longer the case, but that occurrence would need to be discussed with young readers. Overall, a gem of a book for animal story lovers, horse lovers in particular, and, really, anyone who loves a good story.

As with all of the Books about Misty and the BeeBees, this book is filled with charm, excitement, authentic emotion and beauty. We have so loved reading about the BeeBees and Pony Ranch, and we are so sorry that we have now read all of the stories about Misty of Chincoteague. Now I guess we will reread them!

Granddaughter loved this book and read it from cover to cover a day.

Classic series about ponies who live on an island and the girl and boy who take care and raise them. Best for an intermediate beginner reader, I bought the whole series as it's a continuation storyline...

I got to see the "Little Ponies" in the Chincoteague area while we lived in southwestern Pennsylvania and that was such a treat!!My great aunt had a book about the "Little Ponies" on her book shelf and to actually see the ponies, I was thrilled to see all of theponies as they frolicked in the water.

10 year old Daughter LOVES this book with all her tiny loving heart! Daddy hit a home run buying this for his little Gracie Joy.

Excellent story for children who love horses. Good character development.
