Excellent with oversize format that beautifully presents the artwork and illustrations of Black Widow and her evolving story and character in the comics for the past 53 years. The Titan Books edition is larger than the Insight Comics edition and includes an exclusive Alex Maleev art print. Highly recommend the Titan Press edition it is outstanding and beautifully done. If you love Black Widow, this belongs in your library.

100 % well thought out coffee table book. Bought this to gain an better understanding of the character and use a road map to some key Black Widow story lines. Please trust me when I say it is absolutely gorgeous! I also own the book they made on Deadpool and it's just as great.

One of my new favorite reads.

Disappointed with the lack of knowledge gained. I didn't learn much from this book, much of it is very basic investment advice and discusses some potential pitfalls of international taxation--nothing googling and reading free online forums couldn't figure out. The book didn't have much direction either, it was more a hodgepodge of potential issues with taxation for international families. If you have NO understanding of IRS tax rules, then you might learn something. I had hoped for a book with more in depth information and advice considering this niche topic, but was greatly disappointed.

The book raises many of the problems to be encountered by international families but not very much in the way of specific solutions. For example, they will tell you that if you are a non-resident alien holding US assets, the income from those assets will be subject to US withholding taxes of 25% unless you are in a country with a tax treaty with the US. Instead of putting in a table showing the applicable rates for the tax treaty countries, they leave it to you to contact a tax consultant and their general comment on tax consultants is that most aren't up to the job because it is too complex - not very useful. So the book is really just an advertisement for the authors as tax consultants.

As a dual USA/NLD citizen considering changing countries this book is a treasure. There is so little information available regarding financial/tax issues for multi-country families I pre-ordered the book and am glad I did. It is written logically, and for those of us not daily immersed in financial matters Mr. Fisher has written this for easy comprehension. In addition, the book is quite comprehensive, causing me to consider issues I would never have known about. I strongly recommend this book to any who are coming to, or coming from the USA, in order to get a grip on the financial/tax issues that cross border life/work creates. It is a good planning tool as well for considering your next moves and living options.

This is a great introductory book to the problems facing families working in multiple countries and therefore under different tax jurisdictions over the course of their lives. It would deserve a 5-star rating for the problems that it highlights. Unfortunately is a bit short on specific solutions, mostly due to the fact that the possible combinations are too many and the personal circumstances may vary greatly. So read this book as a guide to develop the questions pertinent to your particular situation to ask your international tax counselor.

When you have world-wide assets or have tax liabilities in different countries you will have to deal with foreign or international tax rules and regulations. This is an excellent book what provides a great overview of possible tax consequences for cross border tax responsibilities and wealth management options together complying with IRS and foreign tax agency regulations.

Excellent resource for global citizens trying to optimize their financial potential.

This book is an advertisement for services. Almost every page refers to "complex" issues which require professional consultation. Its just an overpriced business card. It is also heavily focused on explaining the US tax system to inbound foreign nationals. It is not very relevant to US citizens moving abroad. Just my opinion.

I love this latest children's book and think Sally Lloyd-Jones is a brilliant story teller! The illustrations are fabulous too, and I wish I knew how they got such incredible saturation that makes the pictures jump off the page. Seriously gorgeous. I don't have small children anymore, but I collect Sally's books because she is witty, fun, and she understands the way little kids think. I love to share these with my friends who do have younger kids! They make great gifts as well. Well done all around!!

Our 3 grandchildren, ages 8,6 and 3 have enjoyed reading Hats Off to Mr. Pockles and the illustrations are very vibrant. My 8 year old granddaughter really commented about all the hats and which ones she would want to wear. We love Sally Lloyd Jones' work.

I loved this book! Mr. Pockles and his many hats are so well illustrated, and the story is sweet and has a great message.

this is a strip that will stand the test of time because the characters all contain elements we can all relate to. the artwork is quite superior to most other strips out there and the fact that Bill Watterson refused to license his characters helped keep this strip fresh, unlike others which shall remain nameless...cough...Garfield...cough... great for children ages 5-105!

Love Calvin and Hobbes. Another one to add to the collection. Eventually I'll have them all.

While there is a prevailing notion that product reviews should comment purely on the content of the product and nothing else, I am compelled to do otherwise. Don't get me wrong, I have been reading Calvin and Hobbes for most of my life, and I LOVE the strip; there is no doubt that Bill Watterson put his whole heart into it. As a fan, I wanted to purchase each Calvin and Hobbes collection, and in hardback format so they would last longer. I bought several collections, and you might be able to imagine my dismay when the book were of incredibly poor quality. Perhaps I noticed this because I used to work in a book binding shop, but on several of the books the covers were not even glued to the pages; the covers and pages were improperly cut, and unlike quality hardback books, the pages were not stitched but only glued (or not glued) together. Naturally, I wasn't surprised to see that these books were made in China. I don't know if the paperback books are made in the USA, but if they are I expect them to be of much higher quality, but that's just one reason to buy American.

It was okay. I really enjoyed getting to know Cain and Emma's background story, but it was just okay. There's just too much dialogue sometimes between Cain and Emma, too many scene changes without telling the reader what's actually going on in the scene so we can follow better. One example is when Cain and Emma went from the restaurant back to the apt in one sentence. There wasn't enough insight into what Cain and Emma were feeling and I felt short changed. What I truly enjoy about this series is that the action is raw and uncensored. Cain is ruthless and such a smart ass, I love it! But I was hoping to get more details of her relationship with her family since there wasn't any in the first book of the series. And with all the declarations of love between Cain and Emma, I really can't believe that they would break apart years later. I'm slightly disappointed with this prequel.

I’ve read all of the Cain Casey series and have never been disappointed with the plot or storyline. The reader can become entrenched in the crime family, to the point of not being horrified at the way they eliminate their enemies. In this book, we find out how Cain and Emma met and fell in love. Their relationship couldn’t seem more unlikely given Emma is a small town girl, straight off the farm in Wisconsin and Cain is the head of a NOL crime family. Somehow, both women make it work. I’m a huge fan of Ali Vali, she never disappoints.

OMG this series never fails to keep me up late at night . You are truly a awesome writer. These characters are ingrained into my memory and life that I find myself smiling when I think of them and what they have been through and out smarted their enemies. I hope and pray you will continue to indulge me and others like me with these characters.Thank you

While I was reading this book, I kept going back to the other books in the series. Trying to figure who was who. I loved the storyline of how Casey and Emma...although we new the basic of the meeting but to go through the courtship was beautiful. Thank Ali for another great Cain story. I definitely recommend this book and series.

It's Cain Casey. If you don't know about Cain Casey and this incredible series, please do yourself a favor and treat yourself to the entire series. Cain is a mobster, yes, but she's not what you'd imagine the devil to be. This entire is incredible, and I love the fact that I got a full picture of how they met, and came to be. You will not regret picking up this entire series.

Ok if you have not read this series you are missing out it is entertaining and well written. I wish Ali Vali would follow up this book to what happens with Billy and her mom and the younger years with Hayden there first child. Got to love some Cain and Emma..

I love this series and hope there's more coming. I devoured all these books and now I'm sad there done. Do yourself a favor and get to know the Casey family and their friends, you won't regret it.

I’ve missed Cain and Emma, having previously read the entire Cain Casey series. It was heartwarming to get reacquainted with them and read the very beginning of how they met and fell in love.

I loved "In the Garden of Beasts" and really liked "Devil in the White City" and "Isaac's Storm," but this one a dud. Or, to be more specific, half a dud. Larson links two stories - Marconi's marketing of his wireless technology and a murder that apparently grabbed the headlines worldwide in the early 20th century - but the only thing they have in common is one incident. The rest of the book tells two totally different stories, and while both convey a sense of the times, they are not otherwise related and really don't complement each other.The story of Dr. Crippen's murder of his wife Belle (among other names) is more standard Larson - it's fascinating at all times and gripping at others. Marconi's story is also interesting, but not as much, and by constantly jumping from one to the other he undercuts the drama of both. The last 100 pages or so, when the two stories converge, is the best part of the book and more or less worth waiting for, but getting there is not half the fun and is downright tedious at times.I'd pass on this one. If you haven't read "In the Garden of Beasts," do so now, and then think about his other books. But don't waste your money or time on this one.

What a fantastic book! I've been struck down by the flu and had to spend several days in bed. This book was my companion. As miserable as I feel, this book made me forget about my symptoms. I was enthralled by the story and had to constantly remind myself this was non-fiction. A lot of the negative reviews this book has received claim that Mr.Larsen went into too much detail about Marconi and his experiments. I beg to differ. I have no knowledge of the intricacies of electricity or how waves travel but found the information easy to understand and relevant to the story. I also think the book was well organized. The transfer between the stories of Marconi and Crippen are done well. I was interested in both stories, not just the gruesome details of the murder, which does not present itself until late in the book. This is a book that is both engaging and informative. Highly recommended.

This is the third book of Erik Larson that I have read. All of his books, including this one, are highly researched and easy to read. If you can only choose one of his books to read, I would say by far, his book "Devil in the White City" is his best.Thunderstruck, uses the same format as the "Devil in the White City", where he interweaves two stories together. One story is about Marconi, who invented the wireless. The other story is about Dr. Crippen, who murdered his wife. The two stories are connected because Marconi's wireless is used to capture Dr. Crippen as he tried to escape to America.First let me talk about the Marconi part of the book. As stated above, Erik Larson does an amazing job researching this book. He has a "Notes and Sources" section at the end of the book, where he shows his sources. For the first half of the book, I was riveted to the Marconi story. Mr. Larson does a great job explaining how Marconi created the wireless, how he tried to improve on the wireless, and how other people also claimed credit for creating the wireless before Marconi. This story at times drags though in the second half of the book. Mr Larson tries to write about all of his research, an at times it felt that what he was saying was not advancing the story. It felt repetitive at times, even though the event happened at three different locations.Just an FYI, Mr. Larson sometimes goes on historical tangents. Usually I found these tangents extremely entertaining and informative. But I can see some readers finding them unnecessary for the story. But please note, I am extremely happy he put them into the book.The other part of the book is about Dr. Crippen. For the first half of the book I found this part of the story somewhat boring. Once Dr. Crippen meets Ethel, the story become really interesting. If you are looking to read about a sick and devious murderer, this is not the book for you. Dr. Crippen and Ethel seem like really nice people, while his wife is not that likeable.One thing the reader needs to take account is this murder actually happen, and it occurred in the early 1900's. No matter how well Mr. Larson investigated this story, he couldn't find all of the answers. He can't go into the mind of Dr. Crippen, he can only state the facts as he know them. Thus some aspects of the murder, Mr. Larson can't explain. He will give different theories, but he can't say for sure how the murder went down.Also, some actions of Dr. Crippen really confused me as a reader. Here is an example of the one that bothers me the most. His wife always was threatening to leave him, and telling him that other men would wan't her in a minute. She even takes steps in terms of leaving him. Why did Dr. Crippen not just leave his wife. instead of murdering her? Mr. Larson as an historical writer can't answer that question, but it is a question that really bothers me.The reason I gave this book 4 stars is that the story about Dr. Crippen is boring for the 1st half of the book. And sometimes the author goes overboard about Marconi. A good editor should have seen this problem and fixed it. Thus I recommend this book, with those small caveats.

Entertaining beyond all reason, Erik Larson tells parallel tales of obsession, genius, myopia, accomplishment (and its sacrifices). The book serves as the definitive, astonishingly compelling, detailed and surprising life of Guglielmo Marconi, ultimately (at last?) credited as the inventor of wireless communication, an invention that would profoundly change the world. His inspiration, desperation, obsession, his perhaps unprecedented self-belief, as well as his deep-seeded terror of competitors, drove him relentlessly on. Not a scientist. Self-educated. He, and his "wireless" was quite beyond his life's work. It was his life. Of equal appeal is the unraveling of one of the most compelling murders in British history, of which I will say little. Just make SURE you read through the last page! This is indeed an historical account - an almost maniacally researched one - that reads like a novel, a thriller, a procedural. It is exceedingly entertaining. As well as a profound achievement of his own. Larson' prose is crystal clear, filled with amusement, and amusing details, and he creates characters of many dimensions, impulses, quirks, and oddities. A great read.

Erik Larsen is an admirable researcher and tension builder as he was in the boffo 'Devil in the White City'. I loved learning about Marconi, a fascinatingly complex individual and the amazing Dr. Crippen. The tale bogged down in the middle but it sure caught fire when Belle disappeared. Another amazing chapter in history masterfully told.Note on Larson's research: He doesn't just provide a fact, he shows his relentless research in things like the cat used in the forensics study of Belle. He not only knew the cat's name but that it survived and was adopted by a medical assistant, had a littler of kittens and was done in by a dog. He doesn't do research by halves.

I read a lot of fantasy. I am a kindle junkie and I often use kindle recommendations to read new authors. Thanks to Amazon, I discovered this series and I have been very pleased. The author does a great a job juggling the stories of his characters and maintaining the readers suspense at an acceptable level. Every installment so far finishes on a great note, but he leaves the reader hungry for the next book. After reading fantasy books for 30 years, the genre becomes somewhat predictable. Maxwell's world is new and fresh. The characters are genuine, and it's easy to relate to them. I do not write many reviews, but I depend on the reviews of others to guide me to my next new series, author, etc... For the price, this is an easy choice. I highly recommend this series to anyone that's looking for a new twist in the world of fantasy.Thank You James Maxwell, for a great story. Thank You Amazon for a great recommendation. I just downloaded book 4, so I am going to read some more.Get the books. You will be glad you did.

This is a review about the 4 book series. Above average writing for a self published author, but not star quality. Please don't misunderstand, this is high praise. This book suffers from all the common issues of 99% of self published authors, but is clearly above average. The author obviously used a spell check, and has a great story, very captivating. But you do get interrupted by poor writing such as describing something, but not immersing the reader in the experience. Immersion does happen here and there, but is interrupted by clunky descriptions. Other areas for improvement are around repetition of descriptions (as if the reader had forgotten what they read) and contradictions. However contradictions are very rare. Again, all of these are common issues with any self published author who lacks polish and an editor. But I still recommend the series. I've read dozens of self published authors and have only seen 2 that perform at a professional level. This series is roughly 2 steps below them.

I found the first two books of the series entertaining, so I thought this book would make for good plane reading on my next flight. I was wrong. While it seems odd to discuss plausibility -- come on, this is fantasy -- in a good novel the people have to be believable. Here they're not. The characters struck me me as flat and boring with little development, which is to say, naive and / or predictable. Alternative adjective: stupid. The dialog is about as sophisticated as a Schwarzenegger film, and the language overall very simple; it's a grade school book with blood and guts.My main qualm, however, was the storyline. The overall events were epic, no doubt, but the action and events were completely predictable... Dare I say, scripted? It's overboard even by Hollywood standards. There was no suspense or excitement for me, because you can tell both what is going to happen (good guys escape / survive / reach their destination) and when (just in a nick of time!). Seriously, EVERY EVENT was timed in the manner of Indiana Jones rolling under the stone door just as it slams shut. I think that was supposed to make it exciting, but because everything happens at the last second =just= in time, the predictability kills the suspense and you're left with only eyerolls.It's still an interesting world and concept, but I'll be taking a break from this series now.

Of the three out of four books in the Evermen Saga that I have read, by James Maxwell, I think that this one was the most interesting. While it does cover some additional wars it also introduces new lands of the empire complete with romantic excursions by some of the characters who you hoped would get together, finally. I think that there is a delicate balance between trying to maintain a mythical past from antiquity and present day conveniences. There were times when the author almost alluded to contemporary devices for communication that were not thought of even in a mythical world, and it bothered me somewhat. I am sure from research done by Michael Creighton years ago for his book about journeying back in the time of the Middle Ages that there were inventions that we did not realize that they had and perhaps the same is true for James Maxwell. Maybe he thought of some possibilities like artificial heat sources, lamps lighted by runes etc. This does have expanded and prepared for conclusions in the final book, which I am reading now. I think that in a sense they became more interesting in character development and even descriptions with each new book. It's an engaging saga of history, albeit imagined and created, romance and most certainly violence in their many wars. Sometimes I feel like I am reading a morality tale in 4 books...a little spirituality, cautionary suggestions of what happens when violence does not solve human relationship problems it only enlarges them, and ultimately the Machiavellian principle that power corrupts. However, Machiavelli also felt that the end justifies the means, which history has proven wrong so many times as a source of resolving conflict.

One of the highest compliments I can give about this series is I have enjoyed each book more than the one before it. That is a rarity. I believe that the author had a plan and is executing it very well.A shocking amount of plot threads were resolved in book 2. What starts here was properly set up and doesn't feel like starting over. The stakes are very high this time around.Another compliment I would like to pay is to the main character Ella. She has truly won me over. One of the best main characters from any series I have read. Her story this time out is the best part of the book. Her quest takes her into frightening but always entertaining corners of the map.Speaking of the Map. It really opens up this time. The feeling of Epic shines through.I really don't have any complaints with this book. If I did they must have been minor enough for me to have forgotten them already.
