This is amazingly awesome. I purchased it as a wedding gift for an Uber Star Wars nerd. He said it was THE best wedding gift, ever. I am so tempted or order one for myself. It's well packaged, it looks amazing, and it has the ability of making a grown bearded man to squeal like a 5-year old girl with delight.

I don't even know where to start in talking about this book, except to quote another reviewer, who accurately said that it's clearly a love letter--to both Star Wars and its fans.The presentation of the book is gorgeous. I personally didn't really care about the Vault packaging, and I think it would lose its charm after the first big reveal. If you're giving it as a gift, keep it for a dramatic effect . . . but yeah, after that? It's cheap-feeling "silver" plastic with mechanisms and sound effects that require batteries you'll have to replace eventually.Really, the gem is the book.The Vault edition (which is what I got because the cover sucked me in; the non-Vault version didn't strike my fancy quite so much--it looked too "commercial," which ruined the aesthetic for me) is made of gorgeous, supple leather, embossed accents, and deckled pages (which I love). The little notes in the margins from each of the book's owners are delightful, if somewhat contrived and awkward in places. As others have noted, some of Anakin's notes are a little heavy-handed in "foreshadowing" his fall to the Dark Side; likewise the case with a few of Obi-Wan's remarks (i.e. not seeing how he'd ever have to use a certain forbidden lightsaber strike against an enemy. On one level this is fascinating--makes me wonder what was going through his mind at, uhm, a particular moment--but on another, again, it feels just a little too forced).This having been said, the notes are generally good, sometimes amusing, sometimes heart-wrenching when you realize what was to come. I think Wallace did a good job, mostly, of keeping the comments balanced between the various characters: Anakin and Ahsoka feel particularly vocal, as does Thame, but not quite to the point of feeling overbearing. I wish there was more from Qui-Gon, but I suppose it makes sense that he'd be more reserved in his comments.The information is an absolute delight; of course, some of it's rendered non-canonical now because of the Disney overhaul, which kind of breaks my heart, but . . . oh well. Enjoy it for what it is, and what was lost (fictitiously and literally).I was pleased to see as well that Wallace is drawing upon various EU sources, including books written for children (which I read as a kid). It brought a smile to my face seeing such nostalgic references . . . but then again, I was smiling throughout most of reading this book. The text, the illustrations, the notes--all gorgeous and insightful.There were a few bits of text which felt inconsistent with other source materials, but it was easy enough to overlook, or to simply attribute to being the personal views of the particular Master writing the passage. (For example, it's suggested that if one fails the Trials, one enter into a period of fasting and meditation for several weeks before attempting them again. I know the Jedi can be ascetic, but extreme fasting like that seems like neglect of the body--which in turn seems contradictory to the Code. In one of the Knights of the Old Republic games, I seem to remember a Jedi's indignation at finding out that extended fasting / starvation is used as a tactic at the Sith Academy. So. There's that. But anyway . . . it's a nitpick.)Now, for the Vault extras: before cracking open the book I didn't see the point, but as I found them nestled within the pages, referenced by notes in the margins (Thame's credit, a patch that an Ace gave to young Anakin, etc.), the more I realized that they really do add something unique. I can't imagine reading the book without them, to be honest. At first the thought of the severed Padawan braid creeped me out a bit . . . and then I read whose it was, and it made sense. Same with the napkin from Dex's Diner . . . I wondered why the hell it was there, until I stumbled across it while reading and looked at it more closely. (The fact that Obi-Wan sketched out his new lightsaber design on a napkin while a little tipsy on Jawa Juice is just lovely.)All-in-all . . . if you enjoy Star Wars and the larger mythology and scope of the universe, get this. I highly recommend the Vault edition, if only for the additives: the gorgeous binding, the pages, the momentos from the characters who scrawled within its margins. At least speaking for myself, Star Wars is something of a modern myth, and having these little tangible ways in which to reach out and connect with one's mythical heroes--(however obviously mass-produced, and fictional at that)--is nevertheless a beautiful thing indeed.

I lost my desire for little collectible doodads and tchotchkes many years ago. So, while I thought some of the things that came with the book in the full "vault" edition we kind of cool (like the map), overall, I am fine with not having them. The real draw is the book, and that is where the entertainment lies. I thought reading through the book was very interesting, and I LOVE that they included notes from Ahsoka in the book (she being my current favorite character ever created in the Star Wars universe, closely followed by Mara Jade and Jaina Solo). It was interesting getting some formal information on the structure of the Jedi order, and the thoughts from many notable Jedi. Some of the notes in the book stretch belief (why would Anakin leave the book to Ahsoka, knowing the incriminating stuff he left in the book, and why would Sidious write in it at all?) -- and I wish they had made at least SOME parts of the prophecy legible, it was disappointing that that was either ripped out or redacted (depending on the edition of book you get).But, overall, the book was a very enjoyable read. It would have been very dry, very boring reading without the annotations, but WITH the annotations, especially as they are with each generation commenting for themselves, and also responding the generations before them -- it is QUITE interesting.4 stars :)

A must have and must read for the Jedi and followers of the light, this is a beautiful keepsake, as well as reference guide.

I have used The Agile Enterprise as part of the curriculum for my organization’s agile leadership education program. This book has been a favorite of participants which I attribute to a conversational writing style that makes the content friendly, approachable, and importantly for busy leaders - brief. It doesn’t matter how great a book is if you organization isn’t interested in reading it!While the book can be read cover to cover, the authors provide suggested reading approaches in the first chapter should you want to focus in a particular area such as how Agile relates to the customer or the necessary culture and mindset required to succeed with Agile. I would personally recommend starting with the theme of “Agile as it relates to the customer” for leaders who are starting their Agile journey. The chapters also stand well on their own - an essential quality for a book club where members may join midway. I never felt that participants were lost during discussions if they happened to miss a week.All in all I'm pretty pleased with this book. Our leaders read it and then acted upon it - that's pretty hard to beat.

This is a unique agile book that reshapes the mind behind applying agile towards a customer-value driven approach. The author advises readers on important innovative concepts and very practical agile practices such as user story mapping, lean canvas, reinventing organizations, agile budgeting, personas, feedback loops, cost of delay, discovery mindset, and much more. These practices can be applied to any business situation to enable an organization to move from a state of “uncertainty” (a good starting position) to a state of increased certainty through more rapid discovery, experimentation and learning approaches. Overall an excellent book for leaders to build their agile mindset and embrace new tools to determine their organizations agility and true focus on customer value. I would highly recommend.

A very well developed book that has many tangible artifacts that can be used immediately on your organization's adoption of agile. I loved the guide-like feel to the book, usable charts, and the chapter on measuring agile (Chapter 20) laid out a usable approach. If you are implementing Agile in your organization, read this book first, use the artifacts in the chapters, as well as additional reference material and you will have a better chance at success. Nice job Mario, excellent read, well worth the time.

The book is too long, often is repeating the same concept again and again. The author used always the same catchy words without really giving you tangible examples. Agile mindset is repeated in almost all chapters and still at the end you have only a high level definition and a vague sense of what means. More importantly this book still show strong limitation of Agile for enterprise. The focus is development of products, while in enterprises you have multiple functions like IT, FI, HR, logistics, procurement and etc that do not develop coder products by nature. The book is mostly focus on products and items related to customers, people who pay and choose for.Overall a good initiative with a poor execution and still leaving tons of questions unanswered. Surely not recommended .

The Agile Enterprise provides a holistic and effective way for implementing Agile throughout your organization. Having worked with Mario, I have seen the concepts and methods illustrated in this book transition an organization successfully to Agile from top to bottom and end to end. Highly recommended.

This book was one of the best resources i came across for naturals and I don't regret it one bit! Fun and reader friendly prose shows the author really knows her audience. I read it cover to cover when it arrived and though most of the information I could find online , the locs section was particularly helpful. I'm not ready to loc, but the author did a great job detailing the cost in terms of time and money of each of the (apparently) many ways of locing . The book was worth buying for this section alone , but i was pleased to find lots of great additional tidbits.There were times where things seemed a bit clustered and pictures would have been helpful but still I highly recommend this book to anyone going natural!

Lonnice has charm, wit and intelligence which comes bursting through the pages of this little book. While I am definitely in favor of chemical free hair (that means no chemical texturizing either) you can still use a lot of the info in this book. I have found that texturizing can be done naturally by cornrowing or twisting your hair. See Pamela Ferrell's book about this subject matter. I think you should include this book in your library as a reference guide because it does have some goods tips, especially about conditioning your hair. Some of the products can't be found anymore but hey there are others that can be substituted and as long as you understand the concept Lonnice is trying to convey who cares what the product is called, just do it.

Written years ago before the passionate revolution of natural hair gurus came along, Plaited Glory introduced me to two-strand twists and cute natural hairstyles. It gave me confidence to begin considering being permless and I was soon off on my own hair journey. A true classic in every sense.

I'm thankful to find any information on natural hair care. I'm in an area where there are very few people into natural hair. I work in Corporate America and have been using extension twists and wigs while my hair grows out. This book along with "No Lye" gave some useful information about products to use and how to create your own. It would be nice if step-by-step styling techniques were included too. I have found some "locing" products with things like Shea Butter and wonder if their use is discouraged like petroleum-based products.

The book is very good. I really loved her first book; it got me startedon my natural hair journey. I didn't like this book as well because I don't wear braidedstyles. However, I would highly recommend this book to those who love to wear braided,locked, or other protective hair styles.

I thought it was a funny and cute book, but overall it was not what I expected. My hair has been natural so I did not find the book too helpful. It was a nice read but if you are looking for a hair bible this is not it. This book is helpful only if you are unsure about going natural and would like to hear stories of another woman's hair story.

Very informative, readable and entertaining,

…because this beautifully photographed book has no recipes and, except for the cider and perry section (that does have some information I hadn't seen in the Cider books I've read), little or nothing on brewing/fermentation. Pumpkin or Butternut Squash beer might sound interesting but you're on your own, no help here.Take good clear notes as you read- there's no index or resources section for any of it.A good idea book, but you'll have to read more books if you want to go beyond the gardening part.

When I received this book, I didn't really think it would be for me. While I love to garden and grow food, making beer, wine, or cider never interested me. I do enjoy a bit of wine on occasion and my husband enjoys beer. But making it? Nah! In my mind, the process required a lot of produce (either expensive to buy or time consuming & tricky to grow), specialized equipment, and a LOT of patience since it seemed to be a process of trial and error (with more failures than successes). So I opened the book with little hope of finding something of benefit.What I found was surprising. Most of the fruits, vegetables, and herbs that I grow can also be used to make adult beverages. For example, did you know that cucumbers and butternut squash make excellent beer (something to think about when you've got a bumper crop). Lavender can be used to make gin, beer, and liqueur. Even dandelions can be turned into a medium sweet, white wine. And, even more surprising, was that huge quantities of plants weren't necessarily required to make a decent amount of "brew". As for equipment, the authors point out that fermenting has been around for ages and while one can invest in a lot of expensive equipment, it isn't really necessary ... we typically have many of the items required in our homes.So let's say that you like to garden but you're not at all interested in home brewing. Does this book offer you something? Absolutely!! Each ingredient comes with a lot of information about how to grow, where to grow, when to harvest, pruning, soil conditions, solar orientations, and even how to store the harvest. The information is presented well and easy to understand.I finished this book feeling enthused about the possibilities. Since I hate food waste, it offered me an alternative to canning, freezing, giving away, or wasting the bounty in my garden. It also gave me great advice for growing things ... whether I use the plants for food, libations, or simply as a colorful accent in my yard.I received a copy of this book in order to write this review. I'm already thinking about where I might put the licorice plants.

Parts of this should be required reading somewhere in a high school curriculum. Science teaching at the high school level tends to ignore history and likewise history teaching ignore science. This book reprints Goddard's two reports to the Smithsonian Institute, which funded part of Goddard's research.The first report dates from 1919 and summarizes Goddard's lab experiments, quoting extensively from his lab notebooks. As a fuel in his early rockets, Goddard used explosive charges of gunpowder or guncotton, which, in any practical rocket, was to be fed to the engine by a mechanism resembling a machine gun. The paper reveals Goddard's critical discovery: by using the steam nozzle of Swedish inventor Carl de Laval (1845-1913) as a rocket engine, the efficiency of rocket engines increased from 2 to 64 per cent. This high efficiency reduced to practical levels the amount of fuel need to launch a rocket into space. The report also explains the benefits of using multi-stage rockets.The second report is basically just a set of photographs of Goddard's work on liquid-fueled rockets during the 1920s and 1930s. These rockets incorporated gyroscopic control in order to stabilize them in flight.The book also includes both a brief biography of Dr. Goddard and a forward by Dr. Goddard, in which he briefly provides some background to the research that's featured in the book.Future editions of this book might be improved by adding an appendix deriving the equations in the first paper. Also included might be a copy of Goddard's U.S. patent 1,102,653, which includes diagrams illustrating the "machine gun" propulsion system that's proposed in the first paper, and which also shows a multi-stage rocket with a crude liquid-fueled second stage.

About the Author

Excellent book on the miracles of Auzasa as told to Tommy Welchel. He interviewed people who not only had been there in the 1906-1909 revival, but who had participated in the amazing miracles. I've heard testimonies of ministers who read a chapter at a time to their congregations and people were healed while listening. Such believing-and-receiving-instantly testimonies are just what the Healing Parable of Jesus meant when he said if people would open their eyes and ears to see and hear, and their hearts to believe, they would be converted and he would heal them. Everyone who wants to know if there really is a God and if he heals today should read this book. As I've said elsewhere, the Azusa fire hasn't really gone out. It's just waiting for hearts to open and let it work again.

My Pastor was preaching on revival and had been reading this book. His sermon made me want to learn more about Azusa Street. This book was so interesting that I couldn't put it down, and read it in about 3 hours. How we need need revival in this day and age! The miracles that took place then are possible today! Repenting, fasting, and seeking God can start another great (and possibly even greater) revival than even Azusa Street!

This is the best book on the Azusa Street Revival, that I have ever read. I am going to buy several copies to give out. I so long to experience the events that people during that time experienced. Five stars is what I am giving it and if I could give it higher I would. Brenda

This is a really wonderful book. I read this to my children (ages 5-10), and they couldn't wait for me to read more. It was especially fun because it told stories of God using children to do incredible miracles. My husband and I were talking at the dinner table the other day about crying over the goodness of God, and my one son said, "you cry a lot mama!" And I was wondering what he meant and so I asked him, and he said, "whenever you read that book, you cry." It's true, many of the stories make you cry, they are so good. This books shows God's goodness, His faithfulness, and it makes you desire Him and His presence in a greater way!

If you don't believe in miracles or at least in the possibility of their being miracles, don't buy this book. I believe in miracles and I am savoring every chapter and miracle presented in this book, by reading them one at a time in the morning for my devotional. This is the way I read the Bible. I consider this book an extension of the Book of Acts in the Bible. I find it significant that it all started with an act of mutual racial acceptance when some white women were earnestly praying to God for a pastor. A black pastor was called by God to cross into the white part of town at night, knock on their door and say that he was told by God to be their pastor. This would have been a reason for them to call the cops in the early nineteen hundreds when it happened. They accepted him as their pastor and provided the money to rent a warehouse on Azusa Street in Los Angeles, California. This was the start of the Assemblies of God denomination among other spiritual revivals in the United States and in other countries around the world.Excellent book! W. Dana Shea

I love this book and I believe everything that is recorded in it. I just wish the author would have done a little more research and at least tried to have provided a few backup documentations such as news article, photos, etc., in order to prove to those unable to believe what happened back then on Azusa Street with proof.

Powerful, powerful stories about the Azusa Street Revival! I do not like to read much at all with the exception of the Bible. Nevertheless, when I began to read this book for the first time, I read it in three days which is very fast for me. The anointing on this book is very tangible! Since reading this book it built my faith and created a hunger in me to see miracles. I have begun to pray for people and see the deaf hear, correction of eyesight's, limbs grow out, many people with pain delivered and a man come out of a coma! I highly recommend this book!

Most of us have heard about the Azusa Street revival and know a little about its history and the movement that has changed the world. This book bring these Azusa St meetings to life with first-hand accounts of God's grace and the awesome miracles that took place there.
