When he spots Sophie Owens and her daughter Grace in his store, he knows almost instantly that Grace belonged to Laney.Three years ago, Sophie received the most precious gift that anyone could ever give her but now her world is turned upside down with the knowledge that the person that gave her Grace, wants her back. Grace is her world and without her, there is no way that she could go on. She will fight to make Caleb see that Grace is better off to stay with the only mother that she has ever known.This was a very emotional read. I cried for all of those that were struggling with the grief of losing a loved one but mostly for Grace that was caught in the middle of something that she didn’t understand. It’s not until about half way through the book that you discover why Grace was given up for adoption. Up until then, I kept wondering why would you give up your child because your wife had died. Another great contemporary romance by Inglath Cooper.
I liked this book, it was sweet, but there was one thing that bothered me throughout the book. Grace did not act like a 3 yr old. No 3 yr old has the vocabulary skills that Grace has. She spoke more like a 6 yr old! I have 2 great nephews and one has just turned 3, like Grace in the book, and he does not speak in long sentences, or relate in the way that Grace did. And his elder brother was an early talker, but even he didn't put sentences together in the way Grace did. It was one thing that just detracted a little from the quality of the book.
This was a story dealing with so much of dark emotions- anger, sorrow, depression.Will not go into the storyline, as others have covered it.You feel sorry for Caleb and want him to snap out of it too.The whole graph of the diffucult situation was well written.The actual coming together of C &S was rushed, but IG makes it work.This author goes on my buy list
I discovered I love Inglath Cooper as a writer. She writes a wonderful novel without resorting to foul language and I loved it!
Everything seems to be perfect in Sophie and Grace's world. Grace is excited about her 3rd birthday party! Yet, after a stop at the local feed shop, life takes a frightening turn for them, and they are shaken to the core by a man named Caleb, who means them no harm; but intentions do not always make the path an easy one.Then there is Sophie's Aunt Ruby, who has a score to settle with Sophie and decides to do it at the worst possible time!The characters in this book show a side of humanity we are not always willing to see in ourselves, the selfishness in our own pain and how it impacts the lives of others. They also show what compassion can bring to even the most horrible things in life.Well done, Ms. Cooper!!
Absolutely loved this book. Cooper is now one of my favorite authors. Have read several of her books
This is the first book by this author that I have read. It was hard to put down once you began the book. Loved the dog.Will read more of her well written books.
